1. Getting started with Upmeet

🖥️ Desktop application

👉 Download the Upmeet desktop app

Record your meetings directly from your computer, with no visible bot in the call. Available on Mac and Windows.

🎯 Objective of this page

This page explains how to install and use the Upmeet desktop app.

You will learn:

  • why the desktop app was created,

  • how to install it on Mac or Windows,

  • what permissions are required,

  • how to start recording without a bot.

🔍 1. Why a desktop app?

Until now, Upmeet joined your meetings via a bot extra participant visible in the call. Practical in most cases, but sometimes awkward with clients, candidates, or prospects.

The desktop app solves this problem by running directly on your computer. It captures the audio in the background and generates the same summaries and transcriptions you already know. No bot joins the call.

With the bot

  • An extra participant in every call

  • Clients asking "who is that?"

  • Awkward permissions to ask for

With the desktop app

  • Just you and your guests

  • Discreet, background recording

  • A single click, frictionless

Note: The bot remains available. You can use either depending on the meeting—both are synced to your Upmeet account.

⬇️ 2. Download and install the app

Download the app from upmeet.ai/desktop-app.

On Mac

  1. Download the .dmg file.

  2. Open it and drag Upmeet into your Applications folder.

  3. Log in with your existing account—your meetings sync automatically.

Tip: Pin Upmeet to your Dock for one-click access before every meeting.

On Windows

  1. Download the .exe installer.

  2. Run it and follow the steps.

  3. Log in with your existing account.

Tip: Pin Upmeet to your Start menu or taskbar.

🔐 3. Required permissions

At first launch, Upmeet will ask for three system permissions necessary for its operation:

  • Accessibility — allows automatic detection of open meeting windows.

  • Microphone — captures your voice for transcription.

  • Screen Recording — captures system audio (voices of remote participants).

You can check or correct their status from Settings › Configuration.

▶️ 4. Start recording

Once the app is installed and permissions are granted:

  1. Open your Google Meet, Zoom, or Teams call.

  2. Upmeet automatically detects the meeting and displays a "Meeting detected" notification in your browser.

  3. Click on Record, no bot joins the call.

  4. At the end of the meeting, find your summary, transcript, and CRM sync in the Meetings page.

📋 5. Find your meetings

Meetings recorded via the desktop app appear in the Meetings page, alongside those recorded by bot or via the mobile app. The source is indicated for each entry.
